Welcome to 11th Grade Humanities with Mr. Haskins
I am so fortunate to have been a part of the John Adams Academy family since 2013. While I have been in education for 24 years (as a teacher and administrator), I have spent nearly the last decade with John Adams Academy. I carry the unique distinction of being the only teacher in our program to have taught elementary, middle, and high school, in person and online. I was also the Assistant Dean of Secondary Education for three years, before moving to the online program.
I am originally from Oakland, CA, but have spent time in several states and countries (Italy, Greece, Germany) thanks in part to my time serving in the United States Air Force. I earned my BA from from CSU Sacramento, a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Chapman University, and I possess a multiple subject teaching license as well as single-subject authorizations in History and English. I have many interest, but in my spare time I can likely be found, hiking, swimming, playing the ukulele, or reading a good book (one of my favorites being Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky).
I absolutely love the mission and vision of John Adams Academy and feels strongly that the 10 Core Values closely model my own personal values. I also love teaching the classical model, focusing on reading, writing, and speaking, and look forward to another challenging, yet rewarding year.
