About Me
Catherine Hood is excited to return to John Adams Academy for her second year. After her classical training from the Torrey Honors College and teacher training from Biola University, she taught for two years overseas and then for six years in classical schools in Southern California, where she broadened her vision for TK-12 classical education. She then served for two years as Director of Torrey Academy, which offered classically-based humanities courses to high school students.
Catherine moved back to Northern California with her husband and daughter the summer of 2019 to be closer to family and to join the team at John Adams Academy. She loved teaching 6th grade humanities at the Academy last year, and is honored to serve as an elementary mentor teacher this year. What she loves most about classical education is working collaboratively with teachers to help ignite scholars’ love of learning and empower both scholars and teachers to live to their fullest potential.
Catherine is also currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Rhetoric and Writing Studies through San Diego State University. When she isn’t serving at John Adams or reading for her graduate program, you can find her going for walks with her family, reading books with her daughter, or cooking for family and friends.
